Botanical Medicines

The History Of MMPr

Long Before Columbus set sail to the New World, a Native Healer in the American
Carolinas discovered that an extract from a tree found only in America was
miraculously effective at healing cut, broken, and damaged skin & tissue.

Of all her naturopathic medicines, this worked the best, by far. Healing and Repairing
cuts, scrapes, wounds, and burns, from everyday accidents, wounds from hunting,
damage from battles, even healing skin cancers.

All natural, found in that one species of tree, and no other. Obviously developed over a
mindboggling long time or simply by a stroke of blind luck. Centuries long experience
has proven its ability to heal, now with hundreds of thousands treated in recent years.

They had no idea WHY it worked, only that it did work. Exceptionally well. Passing
from one Shaman to another, one kin-group to another, one tribe to another. From
generation to generation and from them to the newly arrived Europeans.

In 1854 it then was passed to an American Doctor from Michigan, who published it in his
Encyclopedia of Folk and Do It Yourself Recipes. A half page long, easily overlooked in
his 800+ recipes. But it became lost as the pioneers moved across America
and out of the Tree’s natural range.

And so it stayed pretty much lost until the late 1950’s, when a missionary Doctor on a
Caribbean island, frustrated with Western Medicine’s inability to heal the festering
tropical jungle wounds in his clinic, recalled this long forgotten folk remedy
from his childhood, but remembered only it had something to do with trees.

Returning to his childhood Piedmont Appalachia home, he asked everyone he could find
if they recalled the recipe, with no luck. Until he finally found someone in the back-hills
who remembered, and was absolutely stunned at how well it worked in his clinic.

And this is the beginning of Dr. Stephen Monroe’s story.

As Head of Research at a Tissue Repair / Wound Care startup, he Investigated the
recipe, starting with the tree itself, verified it was unique to this specific tree species
alone, identified the exact ingredients that made it work, why it worked, and then
made the recipe even better.

And has continued to reformulate it to make it purer, safer, and much more effective,
calling this latest version ‘ MMPr ’ for its unique ability to ‘regulate’ MMP enzymes*
that break our tissues down, degrade our collagen, our blood vessels, and nerves;
in wounds, in sickness, in disease, in inflammation, and, as we now know,
in wrinkles, and in sagging and aging skin.

(* MMPs - Matrix MetalloProteinases are found throughout our bodies that degrades
tissues and are ultimately responsible for our aging skin.)
